What started off as simply sharing her life on social media with friends ended up becoming a community of over 1 million followers for Avery Woods. The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) nurse turned influencer is most popular for her vlogging content, keeping her audience tuned into her daily life.

What’s so special about Avery’s social media pages is that after watching a few videos, you truly feel like you’re hanging out with your best friend. One quick perusal of her page and you’ll see relatable vlogs, Amazon hauls, and, of course, GRWM videos.

We caught up with Avery to discuss how her 9-5 grind is much different than before, the beauty campaign she’s thrilled about, and what we can expect from her latest podcast venture, Cheers! With Avery Woods. Here’s what she had to say…

3H: From a PICU nurse to a full-time content creator, tell us how this transition happened…

AW: It wasn’t something that I planned. I’d been sharing my life as a PICU nurse through the pandemic, and people slowly started following me and taking interest. It took a while for my account to grow; it didn’t happen overnight. But slowly but surely, I started getting small brand deals. And I realized I could make a career out of this to support my family. It allows me the flexibility to be home with my family, travel, and give them opportunities I never dreamed of.

3H: POV: It’s date night; walk us through your makeup routine and go-to products...

AW: There are too many to name; this would be ten pages, ha! I love trying new products and mixing them up depending on what I’m wearing. For the summer, I definitely have a less-is-more approach because it’s so hot in Arizona. I love the Kosas Dream Beam SPF and the Drunk Elephant Bronzing Drops mixed with a light moisturizer. It gives my skin a glow without having to wear foundation. I typically apply a little concealer, fluff my brows, and put on blush and mascara. Oh, and of course, a good lippie. My favorite lippie at the moment is Rhode—I’m loving their new colors.

3H: Congrats on your latest Kosas campaign; that’s major. Why was this the perfect collaboration?

AW: I’m obsessed with all of Kosas’s products. I’ve been using their concealer forever, and everything they come out with is so good. I am a big fan of the founder and how she positions herself in the industry, so when I had the opportunity to work with the brand, it made total sense.

3H: Tell us about your CHEER’s podcast—what we can look forward to…

AW: We launched the podcast in October of last year, so it’s crazy that we are almost coming up to the one-year mark. It’s one of the things I am most proud of. I love giving people a platform to have real, unfiltered conversations about their lives. And I also love that it is an opportunity for me to connect with my audience on solo episodes. I love the weeks where I am answering questions submitted by my followers just as much as the episodes where I’m chatting with someone I’ve admired forever.

3H: Will there be any special guests to keep an eye out for?

AW: I’m actually in LA as we speak, interviewing a few really exciting guests. Not a ton I can say yet, but I will have a few makeup icons and a nurse I’ve loved and followed for a while if that gives you a hint.

3H: What advice do you have for those looking to leap into full-time content creation confidently?

AW: Be yourself. I know that may be corny, but being authentically you and consistently posting content every day is the recipe for success on social media. Oh, patience too—it won’t happen overnight, but consistency and patience will get you far.

And that’s exactly how Avery paved her way to success—patience and consistency. Her dedication and hard work have landed her major beauty campaigns and sought-after guests on her new podcast show. Avery has her foot on the pedal when it comes to managing it all and has grown a global audience just by simply being the one thing she’s always known how to be—herself.
